RESTORE OUR FUNDS: Huntington Community First Aid Squad

RESTORE OUR FUNDS: Huntington Community First Aid Squad
The Issue
We need your help urgently! Huntington Community First Aid Squad was recently informed by Supervisor Frank Petrone and the Huntington Town Board that they plan to cut our 2016 operating budget by $280,000. This represents a 15% cut in our funds. These funds directly sustain our operations. While we are trying to meet with Town officials and persuade them to restore our funding in full, it is YOUR VOICE that can make all the difference!
Huntington Community First Aid Squad is a 24/7 ALL-VOLUNTEER Emergency Medical Service agency that has been serving the residents of Huntington since 1967. HCFAS is the second busiest EMS agency in Suffolk County, New York and the largest remaining all-volunteer ambulance service in New York State. We respond to approximately 6,000 calls every year, and we were recently awarded Honorable Mention for 2015 Agency of the Year and EMS Provider Excellence categories in our division of 99 EMS agencies.
As so many residents of the Town of Huntington are aware, Huntington Community First Aid Squad provides a critical service to an increasing population. HCFAS does not charge for services, so we rely upon funding from the Town to cover our cost of operations. Town funding is used to purchase equipment to keep our members safe from injury; it is used to provide us with reliable and well-maintained vehicles for the safety of our volunteers and our patients; and it is used to purchase state-of-the-art equipment to provide the best care for our patients. The funding we receive allows us to fulfill our mission of ensuring that every member of our community has access to quality emergency medical care in their time of need.
Our membership and the community we serve are very proud of our volunteer tradition and the dedicated service we have provided to residents of the Huntington Ambulance District for almost 50 years. Huntington is our home, and we take great pride in giving back to our community by serving the needs of our neighbors. We are a vital and integral part of this community, and we look forward to continuing to provide the same level of outstanding emergency medical service for the next 50 years.
We ask that you SIGN this petition and send a clear message to the Huntington Town Board that you stand behind the mission of Huntington Community First Aid Squad and you value the service that our volunteers provide to the community. Please SHARE this petition now and help us get the word out to as many Huntington residents as possible!
We also encourage all local HCFAS supporters to come to the Tuesday, October 6th, 6pm public hearing on the proposed budget at Town Hall and let your voices be heard! Bring posters and signs in support of HCFAS, and seize your 3 minutes at the podium to ask the Town Board to reinstate our funding in full in order to fully protect our volunteers and the residents of Huntington.
