Petition for Matt Lasner to be kept in the Hunter College Administration

Petition for Matt Lasner to be kept in the Hunter College Administration
The Issue
I never had Professor Matthew Lasner, but based on all the news articles I've read, he has not done anything worth being discharged for from his position in Hunter college's administration. First and foremost, it was his husband, Dan Goldstein who "verbally harassed" Ivanka Trump. According to various news articles, he told her that her father was ruining the country and he asked her why she and her family were on a commercial flight instead of a private jet. The only thing Lasner has done was tweet in support of his husband's actions AFTER the conflict took place. The couple neither attacked her physically nor threatened her and her family's life or safety. They were just expressing their disappointment in an America that they felt had fail them as citizens. In schools, people are taught of the Bill of Rights and within the First Amendment is the privilege of free speech. I am not condoning their actions, but I strongly believe that they were simply exercising their privilege given by the United States of America. Firing him would not be a solution because they are many of us who feel this way and people who oppose us, but should we be fired every time an opinion is expressed? Furthermore, should be be fired or judged for the actions of our spouse? Think about it.
