While the slaughter of Canada geese in Denver may be over for 2020, the mental residue of knowing how these birds died remains constant in our minds. And we wouldn't wish the depression that we're all experiencing after this second year of a massacre on anyone. 

A local Coloradan, Karen, was visiting her neighborhood park where she noticed a single family of nine geese and a smaller family of ducks. She also noticed some unmarked trucks nearby but didn't think much about it, since this wasn't Denver. It was a nearby town. When she came back about an hour later, the birds were gone. She immediately thought they had been rounded up and slaughtered. Her near hysteria was felt by all of us. We felt hopeless. How can we possibly monitor every waterbody in the state was all we could think. After all, Wildlife Services was planning to kill 4,00 birds statewide.

Fortunately, this was a false alarm. The trucks had apparently scared the birds away, and they were all back when Karen returned during her evening walk. 

All the more reason to sign and continue to share this petition. Please. We must get Wildlife Services out of here.
