Japan continues the completely unnecessary practice of commercial whaling under the obviously false pretense of research.  This previous year Japan even had the complete arrogance to kill 333 Minke whales, 200 of which were pregnant females, not only killing all of the adult whales but all of the unborn calves as well.  All of this is being done in complete violation of international law, and international court rulings prohibiting their continuing to send their ships out to kill more whales commercially, every year.  Further info can be found at http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/03/160325-Japan-whaling-minke-whales-Antarctica/  and https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/oct/20/japan-to-face-criticism-at-international-summit-for-flouting-whaling-ban-iwc .  As the Government of Japan clearly does not care about the various rulings against it, perhaps a COMPLETE boycott of all Japanese products, and all Tourism based travel to Japan would have some effect and send the appropriate message of just how morally reprehensible their continued whaling is, especially since the average Japanese citizen chooses to eat less than 1 ounce of whale meat per year.
