Campaigner Carol Anne shows that anyone can stand up and make a difference!

Bucks resident and teacher, Carol-Anne O’Callaghan’s campaign to protect nature under threat from the HS2 project, has been recognised by a prestigious Guardian Angels award.

The article has been published by the Guardian newspaper today. It explains how Carol-Anne went from teacher to campaigner, inspired to protect the Oak trees lining an Ancient Holloway in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from felling by HS2. She brought in Ecologists to undertake bat surveys when HS2 failed to provide her with any. She sought input from Lawyers and Engineers to prevent further felling and provide an engineering solution that protected all the remaining trees.

The article has highlighted the key issue for the Campaign which is that all of the remaining trees would be safe from felling if HS2 adopts the Campaign’s proposal - realigning Leather Lane to the North rather than to the South side of the existing lane where the Oak trees and rich Ecology lie.
