See, attached, another news report included in last night’s Late News on BBC London (5:26 mins in)
This must stop!
The trees that are due for first felling are still standing this morning but We MUST reach out and share this petition with as many like minded people as we can.
We MUST call individually and COLLECTIVELY to all the non-governmental conservation and wildlife groups and societies we may be affiliated to. If we can reach 100,000 petition signatures, then we can make parliament call HS2 to account for their crimes against nature and their lack of respect to local community residents. And stop!
But it must be as soon as possible as time is against us. The needless felling of these trees at the top of Leather Lane is a crime.
Not only have we all witnessed the nonchalant way an ecologist (who was actually employed by HS2 to carry out the surveys ) remove a bird box that showed evidence of bird nesting but now the HS2 site security are targeting residents for harassment and intimidation. Particularly Jim Ashton, the founder of Wild Horizons, who just happens to live next door to us; adjacent to Leather Lane and its Oak trees. He is the man who can be seen pointing out the moss to the ecologist in the BBC South and BBC London news clip and later talking about the devastation of the myriad of wildlife in Leather Lane. He was with his family in their own paddock last night and he recorded their disgraceful thug-like behaviour, as referred to by another resident in the BBC London news clip aired last night.
It is NOT only Protestors and Activists who have joined this outcry against HS2 ; local communities are voicing their protest too.. They all want this attitude to stop! HS2 MUST be accountable to the local communities for the needless destruction of natural habitats like Leather Lane and listen to their pleas, not shroud their plans in secrecy and treat residents -who have the right to voice their opposition - like criminals. That behaviour creates an atmosphere of fear and outrage amongst people who would never even thought of protesting in their lives about anything before.
HS2 MUST be called to account for their Crimes against Nature and now this targeted intimidation, which contravenes Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights which provides a right to respect for one's "private and family life, his home and his correspondence".
We want non governmental ecologists and wildlife conservationists to be appointed by local communities to carry out the surveys on their on local trees and woodlands and ponds that are planned for destruction. Let’s call on these societies to hold HS2 to account too.
PLEASE SHARE THIS PETITION TODAY with everyone you know to read and sign - We must try to save as many trees and as much wildlife in Leather Lane as we can and by making HS2 accountable with this petition we can make them continue to be accountable for all the wildlife in every tree and woodland and pond and hedgerow across the UK that they plan to destroy.
