I have some thoughts to bring to you about archery from watching the Olympics and Paralympics on TV. I watched the archers of the Commonwealth from Britain, India, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka play for their nations and they did well. I know they didn't make it to the podium in the Olympics, but we are seeing some good progress from Commonwealth countries in the Paralympics. I have seen Great Britain win one gold medal so far thanks to Phoebe Paterson Pine and there are likely to be more medals coming soon to the Commonwealth countries hopefully. But now I think it's worth revisiting my campaign strategy again.

Since March 2020 I was forced to postpone my campaigning as the country had to protect itself against the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally I was going to start networking with politicians and the heads of sports organisations like Archery GB, UK Sailing and UK Rowing to push for upgrading the sports list of the Commonwealth Games. Sadly due to events that were cancelled because of the pandemic I had to suspend my campaigning for a while. Now I have the time to push for a new approach, which I am in the process of doing now. I am currently working on a package of literature and digital files to present to the CGF's president and executive committee in person. I will go to the head office of the Commonwealth Games myself and present to them with my proposal to upgrade archery and the sports list of the Commonwealth. That way it will reflect the cultural connections of the Commonwealth of nations.

I am also aware that the planned archery and shooting events in India for January 2022 were cancelled. That is a shame and a sad loss of talent and progress for archery and of course shooting. Had it gone ahead then it would shown how much the Commonwealth of Nations embraces archery and needs more opportunities for it to be played. But I will add that to my case. If any of my followers here are members and players of any other sports that are optional in the CWG please get in touch with the chairpersons and executive teams of those sports. Tell them about my progress and how I can help by presenting letters of recommendation to the CGF telling them to upgrade their sports list to make it more modern and up to date. The two list system has to go. No more core and optional sports, just a single core set of sports that reflect the character of the Commonwealth Nations.
