Im in FB jail so im updating this here.
i met with the superintendent today about the possibility of changing the school dress code. The outlawing of shorts was already in place when he was hired 20 years ago.
He was not open to the idea of allowing shorts and stated that he would campaign against it if it were presented to the board.
i also brought up to him that our current dress code is in violation of Title IX and other gender based discrimination laws. He admitted that he was aware of the dress code being illegal and balked at me when I told him I would contacting the ACLU and other organizations that fight discrimination based policies in the courts.
i walked out of the meeting after he admitted that he knew it was illegal.
i emailed him and requested that the topic be added to the next school board meeting agenda, he responded that he would present the discriminatory sections of the code to the schools administrative team and if they chose not to fix it then he would add it to the agenda.
them not fixing it opens the school up to lawsuits and any damages awarded are paid by us, the taxpayers.
