The Issue
Bisons Teaming Up for a Tobacco-Free Howard
Sign the pledge for a tobacco-free Howard University
Big Tobacco has executed a long-standing tradition of targeting minority communities – specifically ours. Because of this, African Americans suffer more tobacco-related deaths than any other ethnic or racial group in the US.
Howard Bisons are known for going on to demand change, ignite cultural revolutions, and transform the world around them. We won’t let tobacco stand in the way of that.
• In signing this pledge, we fight back at an industry that has failed to prioritize our health – and our lives.
• We address a lack of healthcare resources available to our community and the communities that we serve
• We choose education, wellness, and responsibility for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors
• We expose the strength, unity, and power of our campus against entities that threaten our ability to change the world
Banning tobacco frees us to take control of our health, finances, and our lives. We’re about making big moves, and doing big things – that starts here.
