It’s coming up to a year since my beautiful Tillie has been gone and I still ask myself every day,
“why did it take my beautiful girl to die for Essex Mental Health Services to find 10 area’s for improvement?”
then I remember the time when she was released with medication after 3 days in icu on life support.
Then three weeks later she was back in ICU after another failed attempt !
Tillie’s care coordinator sat in our home said “I don’t know what to do with you” then our Tillie was accused of disengaging, she couldn’t win!
My daughter was crying out for help. Having had three referrals for help for being sexually abused she was still waiting for any thing to be arranged right up until the day she died.
It was only after she passed away that I was told I could have referred Tillie myself.
I was Tillie’s carer for 8 years. I knew her illness inside out. Her triggers, her likes and dislikes, yet when I voiced my concerns, on numerous occasions, I was ignored. Tillie learnt how to manipulate the system, so she was ignored and not taken seriously !
I voiced my concerns to her care coordinator 6 months before she died, I said to her,
‘if we don’t do something drastic soon we will be arranging her funeral”
Six months later I was !!!
When she was younger I refused to take her home after an episode in The children’s department of A&E ! I slept on a chair next to her to keep her safe!!
Even though I was her carer I never got to see her care plans and wasn’t taken notice of. There were no support groups and I was made to feel an inconvenience.
Sadly Tillies ongoing 8 year battle with Bulimia and Anorexia were not monitored correctly and when she passed away she was deemed underweight.
Tilz was a child transferred from CAMHS into the Adult Mental Health Service with an already debilitating mental health issue. She was left to fall to her demise. Tilz was offered help but two years to late!
She had two years as a young vulnerable adult with 9 different labels, to self medicate, to change the way she felt.
They knew that this was happening!
Tilz felt so miserable. Misunderstood and a problem.
I am now a bereaved mum for the rest of my life, knowing that if I had been listened to and my daughter had received the help she and I so desperately tried to obtain, my beautiful daughter might still be here and living a great life. I have been robbed not only of my beautiful daughter, but all our plans for grandchildren and a growing family.
