It's sad to see how far out of touch our Government is with the people. The arguing that is taking place between us is even sadder. Our unemployment rate, our unemployment rate for ages 16 to 24 and the highest rating of child poverty in the country is what we should all be focused on changing. I won't argue with Jeff Watson, he is one misinformed man. i.e. His response to our petition and I quote him saying "It launched from the union hall first of all lets be clear about that" In reality this petition was launched from my kitchen table by two women who are tired of seeing friends and family move away for jobs. Families breaking apart because of financial stresses. Families having to walk away from their homes because they can no longer afford them. Children having to worry about their families financial problems. We are hundreds and thousands. I want to engage this community in a conversation that brings about positive change for all of us. We need jobs, good jobs. The definition of a living wage according to Miriam Webster is this: an amount of money you are paid for a job that is large enough to provide you with the basic things (such as food and shelter) needed to live an acceptable life. We all have a different definition of what acceptable is. For me what I would like to be acceptable for this entire community is a job that allows us to stay in Windsor, families have less financial stresses, that we can afford to keep our homes, and that our children get to be children without the worries of adult issues. Seeing these issues in our community tell me that our government is failing us. I will follow the democratic processes allowed to me and I will continue to fight for this community.
