Until the day I take my last breath I will forever remember this day January 5,2018.. It was a day our world changed and our lives will never be the same.. I know this page is about me and my journey with cancer, insurance companies, & denials but today I want to tell you about my niece Ashley who was set on fire by her ex-husband. 2 months prior my niece started having flat tires (5) and was getting suspicious that this was getting to be intentional. Then one day her car was acting up so she took it to the dealer where she bought it. They put it up on the hoist  and came and got her saying "Lady we think someone is trying to kill you." She went and looked and here there was a piece missing from her exhaust pipe with a hose running from the exhaust into the back of her car.. Lots of Pictures were taken & she went to the Police. They put a restraining order on her ex.. They had been separated over a year but 2 months ago she had filed for a divorce.. They have a son together. The restraining order stated both parties are to drop there son off at the curb & pick him up at the curb.. That day she took him for his visit with his dad.. She pulled up to the curb and he got out and Ashley told him to hang his coat up in the closet (she had just washed it) and heard her ex tell him to go in the house that he would be right in.. She looked and he was in the back seat of her car.. She told him to get out that the restraining order stated he wasnt suppose to be around her. He kept telling her he wanted to talk about the restraining order. She told him a few times to get out, he didnt and the last time she told him if he didn't get out she would call the police..She started to call the police when she felt something thrown at her.. She said it felt like her skin on her face was peeling off her and then he threw a lighter at her. Immediately her face and hand was on fire.. Praise God she had enough sense to jump out of the car and drop & roll.. The fire wasn't completely out so she took off her coat and started beating her face.. She knew she had to get out of there and went back to her car where the seat was on fire.. she took her coat and beat it out enough to get out of there.. She jumped in the car, put it in gear and looked and he was standing at the window staring at her on fire.. The worse part her son looked out the window and seen it all happened. Somehow, by the Grace of God, she got out of there and drove to a pizza shop and asked for help..I will never as long as I live forget the phone call that my niece had been set on fire.. My husband came home and got me and we headed to the hospital (45 mins away) & so did her sister with her 2 kids... We all got there and had to wait out in the hallway as they worked on her..  Your mind will go places that you wish it wouldn't but you cant stop it. I just kept repeating "As long as she is alive they can help her but they cant if she dies!" What seemed like a eternity they let us go back and see her.... I wont & cant put on paper what & how I felt when I walked into ICU and looked at her.. How do you describe what  someone looks like that was set on fire by gasoline? The newspaper ran a article when he appeared in Court & at the end is a link to the GOFUNDME page I set up for her & her son.. She was only working part time & going to school for a degree to get a good job to take care of her and her son.. she can do neither now with her hands also burned.. Well on the GOFUNDME page there are pictures of her before & a couple days after she was set on fire.. Here is the link:    https://www.toledoblade.com/courts/2019/01/16/swanton-man-pleads-not-guilty-setting-estranged-wife-ablaze   Amazing she is still alive.. Amazing she knew to jump out of the car and drop & roll.. The worse part to this whole thing is her son watched as his dad threw gasoline on his mom and set her on fire.. Wounds heal, life goes on, but Memories will always be there and her son has to live with them Memories the rest of his life.. Please Pray for both Ashley & her son..........
