We continue to be so incredibly thankful for all of your hard work and support to this petition. We continue to have letters pouring into our post box every day with signatures in support of our smoke-free multi-family housing petition. There are too many letters for me to individually name and give thanks, but know that we thank you.
 
A note about our "January 31" deadline - If there are some of you that are still busily collecting signatures (thank you), know that I do not yet have a scheduled appointment with MLA Mary Polak and so the January 31 deadline is at this point not a hard deadline. If you are someone who was worried about getting your petition signatures in on time and so already mailed them, know that if you have a few more individuals in your social spheres you were hoping to approach, please continue to do so until I am able to give you a concrete final deadline. The truth is that we do not want to have the petition presented to the Legislature before budget day (February 19) for sure and so worst case scenario I will forward any additional petition signatures I receive after my meeting with MLA Mary Polak simply to her office in Victoria once she's resumed session. The take home message, all signatures are helpful to our cause and so please continue to do your best to gather more and spread the word. Organizational support of our petition - I mentioned in the last update that we want to present support from organizations for this smoke-free housing initiative to give it increased strength. I have already received letters of support from the Clean Air Coalition of BC, Physicians for a Smoke-Free Canada and Landlord BC is preparing one for me as well. Please, approach organizations/groups you are affiliated with and see if they would be willing to (I have a template I can email you if you contact me at theairweshare@mail.com). These letters can be send to me via email as hard copy signature is not needed. Deadline for such letters would ideally be within the next 2 weeks but again, once I have confirmed my meeting time with MLA Mary Polak I will send another update. Note, if the organization expresses its support but does not want (or have time) to prepare an individual letter, you can request their permission to add their name on a list of organizations in support of the petition. In that case, forward me the organization's name and whom at the organization gave their permission.
