Help Save the Edinburgh Castle Hotel!

The issue

The Edinburgh Castle Hotel in Adelaide’s West End risks becoming another unfortunate victim of the wrecking ball. The pub was first established in May 1837, making it the oldest continually licensed pub in South Australia. Recently the owners of this much beloved pub went out of business due to disruption caused by the ongoing construction of a nearby student accommodation tower on Gray Street. The building is now up for sale and potentially faces its last days with real estate agents advertising it as an “exciting development opportunity” with “high rise development potential”. Heritage activists will do their utmost to protect this historical gem but we need community support for a successful State Heritage listing. Please sign this petition if you believe that the Edinburgh Castle Hotel deserves to see another day.
