The thousands of apartment owners of residential buildings registered as Apartments under the Maharashtra Apartment Ownership Act 1970 had to approach the civil court for their grievances against the builder, members for unpaid maintenance, other issues, etc.

Now with the amendment passed by the state cabinet, they will soon be able to approach the Court of Deputy District Registrar Cooperative Societies in their area to file their complaints.

This is possible due to sustained campaign by the Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat and liked-minded community groups, consumer forums and thousands of flat-owners. However, this is just a partial victory. We will continue to press our demands which are still to be fulfilled.
