Request to Minister Wynne to implement GE Amendments C147 and C148 before Christmas

The issue

I am a resident of Carnegie.

I appreciate the need to find accommodation for more residents, as well as the needs of the existing community and neighbourhood for managed change.

Glen Eira City Council was the first to implement the new zones. Since then, Carnegie has seen massive change.

I appreciate that the last Council proposed interim height limits for its commercial zones in Carnegie and Bentleigh through Amendments C147 and C148 in August this year, whilst it is developing structure plans (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/inner-south/interim-height-controls-planned-for-carnegie-and-bentleigh/news-story/02c0b89d4e3df4df5e2efb7c655cd06d).

Council has forwarded the Amendments to the Minister for approval.

The interim height limits provide some guidance to VCAT on maximum heights in commercial zones in Carnegie and Bentleigh. Whilst they may not be everything a resident may want, they are an improvement on the current situation from a resident's point of view. From a developer's point of view, they are limited to two activity centres in the Glen Eira Municipality and they still allow significant increases in density.

As resident who would like to see development that balances the needs of developers as well as current and future residents, I sincerely ask you to urgently approve the Amendments.

It would be a great Christmas gift for the Carnegie (and Bentleigh) Communities.
