Petition updateEnd Discrimination : Legalise Adoption for Same Sex Couples In South Australia10 Weeks until 2017 - and still no date set for Adoption Equality in SA

Shaun DGAdelaide, Australia

Oct 21, 2016
For the last 3 years we have been lobbying those who failed to act in 2011 and see through the changes to the South Australian Adoption Act.
If you are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender or any other label other than 'heterosexual' and married you are not deemed fit to apply to adopt a child in South Australia.
Whilst national and international studies, articles and peer reviewed social science points to the fact that children do just as well in non-traditional forms of family, there is a deep prejudice and inherent discriminatory practice that runs through some of those who's ideology continues to hold influence here in South Australia.
We, in that I mean us fellow human beings who happen to commit to love another of the same sex, will not allow South Australia to repeat the pattern of 2011.
Adoption Equality in South Australia has taken a long road, and those blockages remain, please share this so people around Australia and further afield know where we are currently at
