The LNP’s shadow education minister has indicated in this lengthy article that he fully supports air conditioners being installed in the rest of Qld schools still suffering without them. He said he would be happy to fund it. The Qld Education minister however (ALP) states that it could cost a cool $2 billion to install another $50 annually to maintain (with a saving of $10 from the new ACES program) and that she didn’t know where they would get the money. Apparently, she is ‘working with schools and Parents and Citizens groups’ to find ways to install air conditioning outside the Cooler School Zones. This now sounds like a ongoing political battle. Frustrating.
