Congratulations to all who have taken the time to sign the petition. You ARE being heard. The issue of sustainable fishing and large-scale removal of sharks in Belize's Jewel in the Marine Crown through use of nets and longlines have been raised widely in the press, on TV, through social media and has now elicited Government comment. However, the unsustainable fishing has NOT stopped and will intensify until Lent/Easter to ensure the maximum number of sharks are captured to feed the large seasonal market for salted fish in Guatemala. So keep sharing, keep signing and show the world that you want change that supports sustainable fisheries that keeps more sharks and other large marine fauna alive.
