St. Catharines to cease all further work associated with making a by-law to license rental housing

I am happy to report that at last night’s meeting, St Catharines City Council unanimously passed my motion to direct City Staff “to cease all further work associated with developing a by-law to license rental housing in the City of St. Catharines”.

I’d like to thank the almost 1500 people who signed the petition in opposition to the rental housing licencing bylaw.
I’d like to thank the dozens and dozens of people who wrote emails to the Mayor and Council stating your concerns.
And I’d like to give a special thank you to Maria Rekrut of the Canadian Real Estate Investors Association and Kevin McKinnon for coming to speak last night in support of the motion.

Without all you, this would not have been possible. When the people speak with a collective voice, we can fight City Hall and win! Congratulations to all of you.

Hopefully we'll see an article in the paper soon to get the good news out there, but for now, please spread the word so landlords, tenants, and developers need not worry anymore.
