URGENT UPDATE - Ali deported, beaten and nearly killed

On the evening of Sunday 13th May, Ali Rashid Nur was abducted from Colnbrook immigration prison in secret by the Home Office. We were given no warning and his was phone taken away by officers. He was not allowed to call his solicitor and bundled on to a Kenya Airways flight to Tanzania via Kenya. On the flight and on arrival Ali suffered a physical and psychological assault, including his eyes being gouged and a violent beating by the Home Office privately contracted MITIE security staff. On arrival Ali was dropped off with no ID, papers, or documents - despite the Home Office deporting him to Tanzania on the basis he was 'Abdillahi Ali Juma'. This infuriated Tanzanian officials who complained he was not a national of the country. Ali was then detained in Tanzania where he suffered further beating in the back of a van by immigration officers, leaving his head swollen and arm nearly broken. Tanzanian officials then moved Ali to Zanzibar (an semi-autonomous island off Tanzania) where he was badly beaten and narrowly escaped being sent to a certain death on an electric chair. Luckily with help at the last moment, we managed to get Ali bailed and removed from the prison where he is recovering with a local supporter. The Home Office is complicit.
