Ali has been detained - Home Office trying to deport to Tanzania

Dear all, Thank you for your support with Ali's situation. We have just had bad news Ali has been detained by the Home Office and sent to Colnbrook IRC detention centre. The Home Office claim they have a travel document issued by the Tanzanian embassy, to deport Ali to this country he has no connection with. We know Ali is a Somali of Bajuni ethnicity, even in his Home Office interview at the Tanzanian embassy the staff there were baffled why Ali was being forced through this process by the Home Office - saying to Ali that they know he is not Tanzanian. Even in the Home Office's own summary of Ali's case, they explain how Ali had a Somali passport in 2010 which the Home Office claimed to submit to the Somali embassy at the time for 'verification' , which the Home Office now claim "because this passport was issued pre-2006 the Somali Embassy had no record of it so it could not be confirmed as a genuine document" This is awful excuse to give essentially exploiting the administration situation of the Somali government to cause huge grief to Ali and strip him of his nationality. Ali has never had his passport returned or re-issued by the Somali embassy. Ali has 3 children in the UK including a now 10 month old baby. We can not allow the Home Office to destroy his life to serve their racist 'hostile environment' policy. We will shortly be providing an update with some things you can do to help - watch this space!
