Desperate women workers struggling to make ends meet responded to the Central Governments decision to hold back on Provident Fund withdrawals by spilling out on to the streets in protest. The decision of the Central Government was a crime against these workers who were dependent on this money to run their day to day lives as the low wages and rising prices have brought misery and untold difficulties to these hapless workers. This insensitive and cruel decision was withdrawn after the spontaneous protest. But ever since, the police who have books d cases against these workers have been threatening them, visiting their factories and harassing them. In view of the service rendered by these brave garmt workers whose protests represented millions of workers all over the country and brought justice for all of them m, the Karnataka government through its home ministry should withdraw these cases.
