Tell Home Depot: Stop selling nursery plants and stock that threaten the bee population.

Bees are necessary for the pollination of our agricultural plant food crops, gardens, market gardens and flowers. There has also been a decrease in the number of birds that rely on bees as a food source.
I was at Home Depot the other day and had a shrub picked out to take home. Then I read the fine print and saw that it had been treated with neonicotinoids, a group of insecticides that are similar to nicotine. The bee population has been rapidly declining in the past few years, including a phenomenon known as Honeybee Colony Collapse (CCD). Part of this decrease has been linked to the increased use of neonicotinoids. The European Union and many non-European Union countries have already banned the use of these insecticides.
I am asking Home Depot and other companies that sell nursery stock to quit buying their inventory from companies that use neonicotinoids on their stock. Also, as consumers, we need to read the labels on the plants, seeds, and nursery stock we are buying to make sure they are neonicotinoid free. Please buy from sellers that only sell neonicotinoid-free stock!
I do a lot of my shopping at Home Depot and would also like to by plants there, but will hold off on any nursery purchases until their plants are neonicotinoid-free.
