We did it again! In response to our campaign, Walmart is joining Lowe’s, The Home Depot and Sherwin-Williams by banning dangerous paint strippers! The company’s stores in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America will no longer carry products containing the dangerous chemicals methylene chloride and NMP (N-Methylpyrrolidone) by February 2019. How great is that? You can read all about it here.
Now it’s time for Ace Hardware, known as “The Helpful Place,” to do it too! Will you spread the word about the petition to Ace?
With the EPA asleep at the wheel on this issue, retailers are stepping up to get these dangerous chemicals off store shelves. In January 2017, the EPA proposed banning these chemicals in paint strippers but 19 months later, they haven’t moved forward.
