Petition updateHome Depot: Stop selling deadly paint strippersLowe’s bans toxic paint strippers! Will Home Depot join them?

This week, The Home Depot’s top competitor Lowe’s agreed to stop selling dangerous paint strippers in all its stores by the end of 2018. This is HUGE NEWS and is likely to save lives. Will you help us thank Lowe’s on Facebook (http://bit.ly/2H7FAyE) and Twitter (http://bit.ly/2smLN5n)? The Home Depot, sadly, has yet to commit to phasing out paint strippers containing methylene chloride and NMP. We are hopeful that The Home Depot will exercise its leadership in the industry by joining Lowe’s very soon. We know they can do the right thing because they’ve done it before, such as banning the toxic chemicals phthalates in the flooring they sell and recently expanding their Chemical Strategy. We’re also continuing to urge the EPA to ban these chemicals from ALL store shelves. Hopefully the Lowe’s victory will give both EPA and The Home Depot a push in the right direction! --The Safer Chemicals Healthy Families team
