Below is the response from the chair of school committee. This is shocking.  Basically we should let the issues at Brookline High go because it's the end of the year and prom is coming up. If you are as horrified as we are, please let DESE and others know. And please keep signing the petition. We thought school was 180 days and that every day counted.  Apparently, that's not the case.   Let's keep this petition going strong.

From School Committee Chair Val Frias:

I certainly believe district and building leadership are eager to hear from students and families with concerns they may have about their student's health and safety. I don't believe that any meaningful action can come if issues are raised anonymously, via social media, etc. As the school year draws to a close, our students and staff are looking forward to proms, sports banquets, graduations and other special end of year events - once everyone gets through finals. I would also be happy to meet with you in person. I hope that we as a school community - educators, administrators, school committee and families alike - can give grace to one another and approach each other with civility, respect and openness to listening as well as speaking.

Please reach out if you would like to have coffee and discuss

Best,
Val Frias, Chair
Brookline School Committee.
