Sakyamuni Caves Monastery Gunung KanthanChemor, Malaysia
Feb 3, 2022

The Golden Buddha statue was built more than a century ago by bare hands of many ascetic monks who practiced and lived in caves. (for details refer to article below - archive.org)
The majestic Buddha statue is located in the mid-height of Gunung Kanthan which can be seen from a distance through a tiny window (that's how the light gets in) in the Sakyamuni Caves Monastery. One of the unique feature is the posture of the Buddha Rupa is that the meditative posture depicts a "jhanic: absorption" posture where there are no other Buddha rupa found in the world with such a posture.

This Golden Buddha statue could not be constructed again because the construction requires high level craftsmanship with a capacity of more than 50 monks living in the caves for years to construct. Such pure and divine level of craftsmanship no longer exists in this era !
