Dear supporters,
Thank you for your continued support in helping bring attention to the unjust imprisonment of Jason Rezaian in Iran. Today marks the 182nd day since Jason and his wife were taken from their home in Tehran. While Yeganeh has since been released on bail, Jason now has the dubious distinction of being held longer than any previous Western journalist in Iran. Each day extending this unprecedented injustice into to a new record.
As you may have seen in the news last week (http://wapo.st/1AQw2jU), Iran’s state news agency reported on January 14th that Jason has been indicted and will likely stand trial. The charges against Jason still have not be made public. Despite the indictment and referral of his case to a Revolutionary Court, Jason continues to be denied access to an attorney, a direct violation of Iran’s own laws which guarantee citizens access to legal representation along with the right to be charged or released within 72 hours.
To date, nearly 5000 people from over 70 countries have added their names to our call for Jason’s unconditional release. But we need your help to increase awareness of Jason’s situation and this petition. Please encourage your family and friends to sign the petition at http://goo.gl/UYNs0l You can quickly Tweet this message: http://goo.gl/LDWCya
Thank you again for your support,
Ali and Mary Rezaian
Jason’s brother and mother
