I left last week's UN General Assembly meetings disappointed to see that the Iranians had yet to adhere to widespread calls for Jason’s freedom. Jason still remains in prison, despite the fact that his trial concluded almost two months ago. Iranian law requires a verdict within a week of a trial’s end.
Friday, October 9, marks the 444th day that Jason has been unlawfully imprisoned in Iran. This means that he will have been held for the same amount of time as U.S. government employees during the Iran hostage crisis of 1979-1981 -- a milestone significant in its injustice.
We’ve recently reached more than 450,000 petition signatures worldwide. Numerous elected officials, public figures, organizations and human rights experts have joined our calls to #FreeJason. We've come this far, but we can still do more. Will you help us get to 500,000 signatures?
Take a minute to share this petition on Facebook, Twitter, email or text: www.change.org/freejason. Anything you do now to keep driving the campaign for Jason’s freedom forward would be greatly appreciated as always.
