As our petition approaches 1,100 signatures, people have asked about the next steps. I plan to submit the petition to the School Board at the next meeting (Sep 14). Preferably, I will have a timeslot, but if not I will speak during the public comment period. I will update on that when we get closer. Our call to action is to have the School Board do a thorough, honest, and independent evaluation of the support/non-support for Dr. Haas to include parents, teachers, administrators, staff, bus drivers, and other ACPS stakeholders.
This means we still have time to get more coverage and more signatures to increase the impact of the petition. It will also be impactful to have an audience at the meeting to show the support in person along with the signatures. I hope some of you will show up and demonstrate this is a concern that goes beyond politics and focus on the issues that are uniting us in this effort.
