Allow urumi mellam and thavil to be played for thaipusam.

The Issue

Thaipusam is the only day where hindus get to make a vow to lord murugan and hindus support the kavadi bearers by singing god songs and hymns to the tune of traditional drums like the urumi mellam and thavil. Banning it is taking away an important part of this celebration. Thaipusam has been celebrated for thousands of years and so is the playing of drums. It is demeaning to allow a ban on a traditional musical instrument that has been part of the singapore culture. Singaporeans supports our cultural heritage and this hindu celebration should be taken seriously by the authorities and not discriminate the indian community
