IMPORTANT CORRIDOR MEETING TUESDAY DEC. 12, 2023

A meeting of the Town’s Gateway Corridor Independent Review Advisory Committee will take place at Town Hall on Tuesday December 12th @ 10:00am. The agenda is available at: https://hiltonheadsc.portal.civicclerk.com/event/341/files/158

The Town’s study is extremely important since it will finally give us the ability to independently and transparently determine if there are better, faster, more complete ways to solve our Corridor congestion and safety problems than shown in the County/State dictated plan. We have asked for that analysis for over 3 years. During that time, the County/State have not been able to prove that they have solved our problems, especially congestion, since they deliberately leave out key parts of the problem. 

Also, the County’s efforts thus far have forbidden public oversight and input, and their  methodology has been designed to avoid answering key questions asked by Citizens. Members of our Technical Working Group (TWG), who have monitored this for over 3 years, believe that the County will squander most available funds on an oversize 11-lane bridge, while kicking the issue of congestion and safety relief into the future and another tax increase.

We will keep you informed of the meeting results. Unfortunately, the Town has not seen fit to stream or record it.
