Help Chelsea get off her hunger strike

I'm passing this on... Hi, I don’t usually get emotional in these emails, but I’m begging you to please read this one and take action. I talk to Chelsea Manning on the phone regularly, and I’m really worried about her. She needs our help right now. Urgent: Chelsea Manning has gone on hunger strike to protest years abuse in prison. Sign the petition calling for her to receive basic humane treatment now! Transparency advocate Chelsea Manning has been in prison for more than 6 years. During that time, she’s been systematically abused at the hands of the U.S. government. She was held for more than 7 months in an extreme form of solitary confinement where she was forced to sit, naked, staring straight ahead 23 hours per day, and was not allowed to lean back or lie down. [1] Now, she’s serving a 35 year sentence in an all-male military facility, where she has been cruelly denied basic access to healthcare that she needs. All because she blew the whistle on some of the U.S. government’s worst misdeeds. Finally, after years of mistreatment, Chelsea tragically attempted to take her own life last month. She survived, and now the U.S. government is threatening her with even more solitary confinement as a punishment for her own suicide attempt. [2] With no other choice, Chelsea has gone on hunger strike to draw attention to her situation and demand basic humane treatment and access to healthcare. In her statement, she said clearly, “I need help. Please help me.” [3] We cannot let Chelsea’s call for help go unanswered.
