Highways England Should Re-Instate Suicide Prevention Notes
The Issue
Highways England have removed a series of small notes placed on the railings of the A14 bridge at Junction 4 Rothwell, to try to prevent people committing suicide by jumping off it.
They say the notes were a distraction to drivers.
The 'Notes Of Hope' were the work of a group of friends, who wrote inspirational messages and also helpline phone numbers that people feeling suicidal could call, so could have saved lives.
Highways England allow large moving screen advertising boards at the side of motorways, which are far more distracting to drivers.
We call on Highways England to think why these notes were put up and to return them as soon as possible.
