Community Feedback: In May 2016, Highline Public Schools asked the community for their thoughts and ideas on several topics, including small vs. comprehensive high schools. Nearly 1,500 people responded with more than 3,400 comments. The in-depth results can be viewed here: http://highlineschools.thoughtexchange.com/card-webreport/district-results/. To read individual comments on small schools, click on the tab labeled "Q3" then click on any theme (eg. "Equity and Access") to see the underlying comments. Expected Next Steps: In June 2016, the Evergreen Core Planning Team completed its work--submitting an "equity plan" and three potential high school structures (eg. comprehensive, small, and hybrid) to the Highline School Board and Superintendent. The Board and Superintendent are expected to announce their decision and next steps in August or September 2016. As a reminder, the district is planning to spend this upcoming school year 2016-17 on high school improvements, such as: later school start times, new state graduation requirements, and school structure. All of these changes will become effective in the following school year 2017-18.
