People are asking why the park is still closed to vehicles on weekends and prevents so many from having access.
-
High Park is home to many active groups who hold events throughout the park.
Lack of access affects the visitors getting to venues and organizations that have been the heart and soul of High Park and have called it home for many years:
-
· Allotment Gardens-unable to water on weekends and have heavy loads to carry
· Baseball, soccer, and hockey organizations-difficult access, family members unable to watch games
· Childrens Garden- too far to walk
· Colborne Lodge- long walk from Bloor Entrance, almost 4km round trip
· Dream in the Park-20% of weekend visitors complained about access
· Friends of High Park Zoo-unable to host family fun events on weekends
· Grenadier Restaurant-no family meals on weekends
· High Park Nature Centre- leaders of events have difficulty accessing the park
· K9 group-have to unload dogs on main roadways-dangerous
· The Splash Pad and The Adventure Playground-long way apart

High Park is 399 acres. One third of the park is fenced and protected; very little of the park is paved roadway. Lots of trails to walk….
Open High Park to all…….
