Exit Coal Now (ECN)
Nov 26, 2016
A final shutdown date for the last coal power plants in France has been set to 2023, two years earlier than anticipaded. Coal exit by developped countries has been a powerful argument when discussing new coal power plant construction with emerging countries at COP22. As long as countries like Germany and Poland continue to build new power plants, why would countries like Morocco and India stop their curent coal power plant construction ?
The French pledge is helpful, but clearly not sufficient to change that. This is why the world needs this Exit Coal Now petition: very few people know the facts:
1. coal power plants are the worst climate change factor (25% of GHG emissions)
2. many countries are actually building more CPPs and only 4 states are shutting them down !!!
We can stop this non-sense : please ask all the people you now to sign this petition now.
