It's pity for a nation full of intelligent and conscious pious people we have no respect of either our environment nor our people. Every festival ,marriage ,celebration it's a cacophony of blaring music or noisy crackers or whatever suits the celebrant. The justification of it being a tradition or part of Hindu or any culture / religion is based on ignorance or blind faith and in most cases just selfishness. We as a people of this nation are least bit concerned of the fact that for our few minutes of enjoyment we disturb all around us and especially bursting crackers is not just harmful to our health at that moment but it also has its consequences for days to come. It is also affecting people at the psychological level as has been seen in the past of Policemen on duty having nervous breakdowns, unusal aggression , temporary deafness caused due to noise fatigue especially during festivals. This year around it was stressful during Ganpati festival were anybody who is anybody played Dhols , burst crackers like ladis and bombs not just while bringing lord Ganesh a but also for Visarjan expanding into late night hours disturbing all facing the pandals and visarjan spots. Add to all the noise and pollution of the crackers debris left behind on the roads for other to clean up. This year let's make a change by ensuring complete ban on bursting noisy polluting crackers which affect Old and young people, animals birds and people with respitory and heart problems. The haze in the Mumbai is already visible come Diwali and crackers , the city and the country will be gasping for air. Let those who want to burst crackers first pay a fine or a pollution tax , take permissions from BMC or police for bursting crackers in specified zones and within permissible noise levels and within stipulated hours. This is practised in most countries and so can we. Let's bring in a change for a better tomorrow.
