Big news!!! And it happened because YOU supported this petition!

CMS has announced that they are pausing the tranfers that have already killed 4 people since this petition was started. There are now reports of an additional 3 deaths. Honestly, this trend is much worse than I thought it would be. Thankfully, the process is being stopping for the near future.

Yet, even with this pause this petition's demands are still relevant and urgent:

"Funding must continue through the point that Laguna Honda ultimately fails to be recertified. " (which we all don't expect to happen. We expect it to be recertified)

This effort has surfaced significant cracks in our country's ability to support its elderly citizens at their late stage of life. This why we should all be interested in how this issue plays out: you and your family members will become, or are, elderly. And, you may not be sufficiently wealthy to live comfortably during that era of life. 

I believe that this issue at Laguna Honda is a catalyst for building a national strategy to address this uneasy future that we all will face.
