The below recent emails (read from bottom up) to/from your Parish Council are self-explanatory and, hopefully, have your approval. The Committee – of which John Joseph now forms an additional member – meets next week to discuss this, also other current actions and options. As ever your any comments, questions or ideas are welcome. Regards Stuart TRACKS Committee *****TRACKS email of 10 May to APC Thank you for your below email. Update 8 was sent 3 May to all TRACKS members, also parties shown on it as ‘Cc’ (a copy of Update 8 is shown below). TRACKS believes this issue best resolved by harmonious co-operation of three parties – residents, APC and HBC. It also recognises the parties’ interests – inevitably, properly – differ, and is concerned that those of Radlett’s residents are currently inadequately recognised/acknowledged by both LA parties. By reply to the items of APC concern: TRACKS emails to its members maintain confidentiality of members’ names and addresses. Any/all parties copied thereon are openly shown. TRACKS believes that, given the HBC presentation of its proposal at the APC AGM and the wide Press coverage, no Radlett resident has illusion the proposal was initiated by APC (for the record, (i) the proposal is an HBC initiative (ii) TRACKS has directly represented to HBC, as all parties know.). TRACKS expressly asked all sixteen elected Councillor (at HBC and/or HBC) to inform in numeric/quantified form of the precise knowledge possessed by them of their constituents’ opinions. Only one Councillor responded to this specific request (answering only that it was “a mixed bag”). TRACKS gladly acknowledges APC has communicated regularly with TRACKS, also supplied all information stated. TRACKS further acknowledges APC’s supportive initiatives with/to HBC. There is no TRACKS objective to “gain significant benefits” as product of the development now proposed. The objectives of its members are, exclusively, (i) withdrawal of the HBC proposal (ii) assurance of no development at this site other than with the prior agreement of the majority of Radlett residents. This correspondence will be copied to TRACKS members, HBC and Hertsmere’s MP on Thursday 12 May – if APC has more concerns or wish for further clarification please advise before this. They are concerned that your e-mail (which does not state who it has been sent to) doesn’t specify that the project to develop Newberries Car Park is a Hertsmere Borough Council initiative. If you read the email as if you are someone who doesn’t know that much about it, it appears that APC have been collectively included as Councillors who have not responded to TRACKS requests. APC Councillors have been communicating with you and William Grimsey, and recently APC have sent you a copy of a letter (attached again) sent to HertsmereBC raising the concerns that APC have over, parking numbers, landscaping of the site, the roundabout junction etc. Whilst APC have not taken the same stance as your group it is very unfair to say that APC have ignored your requests for information, we have told you what we know. However, APC are putting pressure on HertsmereBC officers and Councillors and asking for more information to be released which it is hoped will happen soon. APC representatives met with senior HertsmereBC officers and Councillors last week at which the points in the letter were discussed. HertsmereBC were receptive and has committed to considering our points as the project is taken forward. APC ask you to inform your members that it is very separate from HertsmereBC, and whilst it notes the financial requirements of HertsmereBC it will do its upmost to ensure that as much as possible the residents of Aldenham Parish will gain significant benefits. Please acknowledge this e-mail and confirm what actions you will take as a result. Peter Evans ************************* Update 8 (TRACKS email of 3 May to members, c.c. APC) In March your MP wrote that “I don’t think the scheme can proceed without the consent of the community”. As an MP Oliver Dowden has no formal position in this matter, or means to address/resolve it. He nonetheless again wrote on 28 April (letter attached) telling Radlett residents “I am well aware that many of my constituents have concerns regarding this development”. You may care to the contrast your MP’s actions with those of your local Councillors. The latter are formally responsible for (i) formulation of the Newberries proposal (ii) knowing the views of Radlett residents (iii) acting to represent these latter as so requested/instructed by you. To date your Councillors have, collectively: inadequately responded to your proper and reasonable requests for information from/action by them; treated factual information provided by you to them as unsound and/or suspect; refused to acknowledged the size and scale of your opposition, professing – risibly – that residents’ collective views constitute no more than “a mixed bag”.
