UPDATE ON OUR PROGRESS

Yesterday we were about 15 strong at the TDA meeting. Please see what was said below plus about 10 others similar comments. We were not encouraged at all by the response. The TDA is having one more meeting with the board and the design agency that will be to: PRESENT THE NEW TDA CREATIVE LOGO If we don't turn out in large numbers (and maybe even if we do) we are going to have a very embarrassing new logo! PLEASE CONTINUE TO SIGN THE PETITION AND MAKE OUR VOICE HEARD! We have requested that the meeting time be changed so that more people are able to attend. The TDA has agreed to change the time and date of the meeting. We are waiting for the new information. PRESENTED AT YESTERDAY’S MEETING I come as a citizen, Main Street merchant, art gallery owner and Downtown vacation rental owner. I am speaking on behalf of No New Hendo Logo. I am a very big fan and supporter of the TDA and think that they do a wonderful job. I am speaking today specifically about the proposed new logo Speaking on behalf of Mia Freeman, a Main Street merchant - she stated: We are (Hendersonville and Henderson County) a Historically based county and we have a vast mix of demographics. Progressive is important but at the end of the day history is the foundation of what we are all about. People come here for the quaintness, charm, beauty and inspirational lifestyle. I have questions as I know others do to? Our city has been described as an OLD CHARM CITY, THE FRIENDLIEST CITY IN AMERICA and THE CITY WITH A HEART FOR ART! People come and have been coming here for a long time for a certain reason. The beauty, the charm and the people. This proposed logo was described by the ASHEVILLE design firm as Bold, Edgy and Progressive. Does this firm really understand Hendersonville? If you want to target a certain group, Lou had a brilliant idea. Do an ad campaign. Our current logo IS BRAND NEW as far as branding is concerned. Marcy Jackson, a local designer said of the proposed logo: “It does not encompass the heart, soul and spirit of this friendly, beautiful, charming, creative town. I must agree. We have an online petition on Change.org with 164 signatures as of this morning, a Facebook page with 262 likes and a paper petition. If you wanted a bigger response to the logo that we have, well here it is. People like our current logo and don’t want it changed. Mia Freeman put it quite well be stating: Families come here for the quality of life that allows them to go hiking, walking the greenway tail from all three parks, hiking at DuPont forest, to Jump off rock for concerts, to our charming Old Timey Christmas night get together. That logo doesn't represent Henderson County. It is a fine line being progressive and yet keeping our charm and historic value intact but so far it has been working. We are here to show that the people do not want a new logo.
