One Week Left to Sign, Can We Get to 2500??

The outpouring of support for Pat continues to be strong and we have over 1,600 signatures; amazing! Can we get to 2,500 signatures before we close the petition?

The petition will be wrapping up at 11:59pm EST on Wednesday, April 10, so let's find every last person who could possibly sign before then. This is a great excuse to connect with an old classmate, get in touch with anyone you can think of!

The plan going toward:

At the end of next week, we will be delivering this petition to the Hempfield School Board and Superintendent. Then, on Tuesday, April 16, the Buildings and Grounds committee will vote on the proposal to name the PAC after Pat. If they vote in the affirmative, it will move to the full Hempfield School Board for a vote. We will let you know if there is a chance for public comment at either of these meetings.

As far as we have been able to research, Pat would be the first female faculty member honored with a facility named after her. This is BEYOND due, we need to begin honoring the amazing women that Hempfield has been home to. Please let us know if you know of any facilities or plaques honoring women at Hempfield High School.

There are certain individuals that Hempfield should honor in perpetuity, because they stand as aspirational figures for future teachers, students and faculty. We named the sports pavilion after Bob Wildasin, a tireless champion of Hempfield. We named the Hackman auditorium after Arthur Hackman, one of Hempfield's educational pioneers. It is only fitting that Pat joins the ranks of those we honor, and we hope that this spurs a movement to recognize other faculty members who have dedicated their lives to making Hempfield excellent.
