Dear Supporters,
It is with the greatest joy that we share the best news of our lives:
After a very long, emotional road… our family has officially been granted PERMANENT RESIDENCY in Australia!
There are truly no words that can capture how this feels. For the first time in 14 years, we can breathe. We can plan. We can dream. We can live our lives just like every other Australian family — with stability, dignity, and a future. The relief, happiness, and gratitude we feel today are beyond anything we’ve ever known.
We want to give our deepest thanks to the people who made our dream a reality:
💙 The Minister for Immigration, the Hon. Tony Burke, and the Assistant Minister for Immigration, the Hon. Matt Thistlethwaite, for allowing our case to be heard and taking the time to thoroughly consider our situation, and ultimately granting us permanent residency. We will be forever grateful, more than words could ever describe.
💙 Our lawyer, Simon Jeans, whose dedication, persistence, and fighting spirit carried us through every setback and every moment of doubt.
💙 Minister Anne Aly and her incredible team, for their unwavering support, compassion, and efforts in raising our case with the immigration office.
💙 Harrison from the Change.org team for putting us in contact with Emily McPherson, and always checking in with how we are going.
💙 Senior Journalist at Channel 9 News, Emily McPherson, for writing a wonderful article sharing our family's story with many Australians.
💙 Jane Azzopardi, a news reporter at Channel 9 News, for interviewing my family in Sydney in 2016
And finally!! Thank YOU, every single supporter who signed, shared, emailed, and stood behind us for all these years. You helped give our family a voice when we felt voiceless. You kept us going when things felt impossible.
Yesterday, our lives changed forever. We will never forget it.
With all our love and gratitude,
Rahmeh Aldeiri & Family
