How many more lives have to be put at risk before something is done?
On Halloween, a shocking incident happened right here in our local community.
An alleged drunk driver crashed into THREE parked cars, causing such devastation that the vehicle ended up tipped upside down outside our local shops.
Think about that for a moment.
Outside a Chinese takeaway, a chemist and a barbershop. Places where local residents, families, children and elderly people walk every single day.
What if someone had been walking past at that exact moment? What if a child had been standing nearby? What if someone had been entering or leaving one of those businesses?
We were lucky this time. But luck is not a safety measure.
We should not have to wait for a serious injury or a fatality before our concerns are taken seriously.
This is about protecting our streets, our families, our children, our elderly residents and everyone who uses our local shops.
We are asking our local council to listen to the community and take meaningful action to improve road safety and prevent another potentially devastating incident.
Our petition needs 1,000 signatures before we can push for the council to take action.
That's 1,000 voices saying that enough is enough.
