Miami is a world class City that deserves world-class soccer!

Growing up in Miami, the thought of watching a soccer home team play in the city is a dream come true. A dream that belongs to a willing fan-base of mixed and diverse backgrounds who always had the passion for soccer within themselves. And now they wish to see their children grow up in the exciting environment this sport provides, which could be theirs as part of the plan to build an extensive project which will benefit our community tremendously.

Former soccer star David Beckham and local entrepreneurs Jorge and Jose Mas, along with Marcelo Claure, Masayoshi Son and Simon Fuller have joined forces to bring MLS soccer to Miami and realize their shared vision: for Miami to be home to The People’s Football Club.

The new Miami MLS soccer franchise will be "the world's most inclusive fútbol club” and will emphasize what our city is all about: inclusiveness, diversity, and openness, and develop "homegrown talent", in a clear sign that the group is committed to the city’s residents, and more specifically, its youth.

Miami has a strong soccer culture, having hosted top clubs in recent years, including El Clasico Barcelona vs. Real Madrid in July 2017 as part of the International Champions Club. Manchester United, AC Milan, and Chelsea FC have also played in Miami. Moreover, Miami ranks No. 1 in U.S. World Cup TV viewership in Spanish and No. 2 in English and is one of the biggest markets for English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, and Champions League viewership.

The Beckham group has chosen the city-owned Melreese Country Club golf course to build a 25,000-seat soccer stadium, with plans to include a hotel, a tech hub, several public soccer fields that will be open to the public, and a large public park for the residents of Miami.

Futbol Miami will also be more than just a professional team, bringing a state-of-the-art soccer academy to Miami for our youth to benefit from and enjoy.

The new MLS soccer complex will also provide a strong economic boost for the City of Miami, create well-paying jobs for the community, maximize the economic use of such a large and underutilized parcel of land, and bring millions of new tax revenue for the city, which could be used to improve public transportation. And unlike previous deals, the stadium and facilities will be fully PRIVATELY FUNDED.

Developing the Miami MLS soccer stadium in the Melreese golf course site is by far the best option and truly a win-win for our City and our residents. On July 12th, Futbol Miami representatives will present their vision to the City of Miami Commissioners and we ask that you please sign this petition to let our local leaders know that you support the development of the Futbol Miami MLS soccer complex in Melreese and that we, the residents of Miami, want a diverse and exciting soccer stadium, club, academy, and community to be proud of!
