There are several ways we can help Ukraine as a group without requiring the New Zealand government to do anything.
Today I would like to talk about an initiative I support call United24. This initiative was launched by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and is the official Ukrainian government means of collecting donations in support of Ukraine. It has some fairly high profile proponents also.
There are three areas you can donate towards - defence and demining, medical aid and rebuilding Ukraine. There is also an initiative to assemble an army of drones. You can contribute to this either by money or by donating your own drone if it has the required specifications. The drone army is used for reconnaissance of enemy positions. I donated money towards the drone army because I thought this was very cool.
I will only recommend charitable organisations that I have personally donated to and done some background research on so that I can be confident that they are both legitimate and effective before I recommend people contribute to them.
Hopefully we can give United24 a bit of a boost.
Thank you,
Finn
