A great deal of time has passed, and we urgently need to take action against the chaos that has taken hold in the Maasai Mara.
I will continue to keep you all updated on every development.
It has been eight months of ceaselessly circulating this petition—day and night. And it is with deep regret that I realize that many people—particularly photographers and major pages dedicated to lions—truly do not care about the terrible plight the lions have been enduring in the Maasai Mara.
No one speaks for them; no one defends them (I asked several people to promote the petition, but I received no response).
They are merely used. There is no love—only self-interest.
It is deeply saddening to see what so many people are turning into: cold, indifferent, and greedy individuals.
I confess that I thought we would garner far more signatures. I sincerely hope that these 10,000 signatures carry significant weight, but I had imagined we would reach at least 30,000.
I see petitions regarding birds, wolves, and dogs easily surpassing 40,000 signatures... so why is it that lions—animals so vital, so majestic, and so endangered—barely managed to reach 10,000?
It hurts. It hurts to realize how much they are admired in photographs, yet how little they are defended in real life.
Nevertheless, I offer my heartfelt thanks to every single person who participated, shared, signed, and truly cared.
We will press onward, striving to do what is best for our beloved lions—for the sake of those who genuinely love them.
