Please be aware of places like “Petshops”, “Gumtree”, “Trading post ” or “FB Pets for sale pages” to name a few.
But, if you do decide to buy from places like this, please make sure you educate yourselves about their sugar coatings and check your new addition is,
1. MICROCHIPPED - is compulsory.
2. VACCINATED - please ensure they are properly vaccinated (ensure you get proof - not just hear say).
3. STERILISATION PRICE TAG - please try to get the price lowered, so you can afford to have them sterilised and it is NOT an added price on top, of what you will have to pay - at a later date. Even better, make sure they come with a vet sterilisation voucher to be done at around 6 months.
4. FLEA & WORMED - please get proof of worming and flea treatments (ensure you get proof - not just hear say).
5. VET CHECK - please ask for a vet report before purchase - including checking of skin, ears and teeth (ensure you get proof - not just hear say).
6. COLLECTING - please, if they fly to you from across the state, there is a high chance they are from a Puppy Mill. If they meet you in a location and sell pets from their car and not a foster care or home environment, chances are they are a Puppy Mill or BYB.
