PTO Meeting, Thursday Nov 9th @ 6:30pm

Shady Side ResidentsShady Side, MD, États-Unis
8 nov. 2017
As you all probably know there has been a lot of community activity surrounding Shady Side Elementary School. Thank You to all the community members and parents who came out to the last PTO meeting to try and join and be a part of the conversation.
Having the School Principal tell us it was a "closed meeting" and locking people out was an act of discrimination but together we have done something about it. We have attended and spoken on the issue at School Board Meetings, County Council Meetings, with the Attorney for the School Board, the School Superintendent, the School Board President and the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland.
A lot of local Citizens have made great efforts to end this discrimination so you can participate in the future of Shady Side Elementary School and its students without feeling bullied. Join us as we join the Shady Side Parent Teachers Organization Thursday evening November 9th. Arrive early for a 6:30 meeting to be a part of supporting the education of our children.
The Schools are the number one component of a healthy community, and it does not include bullying or discrimination. Your attendance can help make change for the better.

--One Parent's Sentiment--
"How does it feel to be locked out?! Having the School Principal say "This is a closed meeting". Having the Parent Teachers Organization point you out for exclusion, and the Principal shutting the door because the issue you would like to talk about they call "a distraction". I know how it feels to be locked out of the school PTO meeting. I was locked out of the school that my child went to and now my grandchildren go to and will be going to."
